About the Event
In collaboration with BETA KL, Wine Aficionados proudly presents a must-go gourmet experience where you can savour a 5-Course degustation journey formulated by award-winning Executive Chef/Co-Owner Raymond Tham using natural ingredients and bespoke flavours from regions around Malaysia.

Chef Raymond, an alumnus from Westminster Kingsway London founded by Auguste Escoffier and César Ritz, trained under Chef Pascal Cialdella who was the disciple of Chef Jean Jun -- the finalist at the 1987 MOF Meilleurs Ouvriers de France (MOF), before becoming a chocolatier for the world’s biggest cocoa manufacturer Barry Callebaut. He worked in London and at the Fairmont Hotel in Bermuda before returning to Malaysia 14 years ago and currently leads both Skillet and Beta KL restaurants as Executive Chef/Owner and lectures a culinary lecturer at KDU University College.
BETA is the brainchild of 5 dynamic individuals behind the vibrant Malaysian-inspired Modern European restaurant, Skillet@163. BETA (in Greek βήτα or letter β) simply means #2 and a representation of the second outlet. In the Malaysian context, BETA is a royal salutation for local kings or sultans, which basically means ‘I’ or ‘me’.
The duality of BETA is clearly reflected in the mélange of curated menu that represents the diverse flavors of Malaysian cuisine; quasi-authentic, exquisite and yet under-represented at times. BETA journeys into four distinct regions of Malaysia demarcated as North, South, East and West to bring a newly redefined gastronomic experience that embodies the hallmark palates of the different States in Malaysia. The ingredients and various unique elements paired together take you on a tantalizing tour across all corners Malaysia.
This absolutely creative and inspiring Modern Malaysian 5-Course Wine Pairing Dinner will be paired with an intriguing selection of French wine labels, including the infamous Spanish Vega Sicilia “Alión” wine label for the mains.
